The NSSA Nationals is the most intense week for any American up-and-coming amateur surfer, and 2004 was no exception. Superfun, warmwater surf, Lower's perfect a frames, friends and enemies lining the beach -- it's no wonder the Nationals bring out such amazing performances. Highlights of the girl's side include eleven-year-old Carrissa Moore winning the Open Women's, Explorer Women's and Middle School Girls divisions -- a NSSA first. After months of training, Maui girls Schell (18) and Lindsey (21) Patterson, of "Team Chica" tackled an above average day at Jaws on March 4, 2004. Schell started with a couple bombs then her sister went a little deep on one (almost getting barreled!), and got washed through the rocks.
